Celebrating 46 years this year, Boston Pride week has finally arrived and is more exciting than ever! Many cities feature vibrant, exciting, and event-filled Pride’s, but few compare to that of Boston’s Pride. For well over a week in early June, Boston is packed with Pride-hosted events across the city to celebrate and cherish the LGBT community in Boston.
Let’s Celebrate Boston Pride!
The cherry on top of all the fun is the iconic Pride parade, but there are plenty of ways to interact with Pride week leading up to, and after, the big event! Some of this year’s highlight events include:
Flag Raising Ceremony
One of the most monumental and moving events of Pride is the Flag Raising Ceremony. On Friday, June 2nd, you can head to City Hall Plaza to either watch the flag being raised, at noon or just to gaze upon it after being raised. You’ll see the flag flying high alongside the American flag. Even if you can’t make it to the ceremony, you can check out the flag all Pride long!
Pride Day at Faneuil Hall
Faneuil Hall, the very place Samuel Adams, James Otis, a variety of others championed U.S. independence from Great Britain, is one of Boston’s most iconic buildings. Head to Faneuil Hall on Saturday, June 3rd for Pride Day! From 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. you’ll be able to a variety of free, live entertainment.
Pride Night @ Fenway Park
Celebrate Pride and the Boston Red Sox all in one! One of the most popular events of last year’s Pride, Pride Night @ Fenway Park is back again. On Friday, June 9th head to Fenway Park to watch the Red Sox play the Detroit Tigers while celebrating equality in the Boston community. This year each ticket includes a special pregame Pride Party which will be held on the Right Field Roof Deck. You can purchase tickets for the game here.
Boston Pride Festival
From mid-morning until evening, the celebrating will be going strong at one of Pride’s flagship events, the Boston Pride Festival held at City Hall Plaza. Make your way through the plethora of vendors, exhibitions, nonprofits and much more! This event goes from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 10th.
2017 Boston Pride Parade
The pinnacle of Pride week is always, without a doubt, the Pride Parade. Kicking off on Saturday, June 10th at noon, the parade begins at the iconic Copley Square and makes it way through Boston finishing at City Hall (where the festival will still be going strong!). A word to the wise – parking will be very challenging so take the T!
No matter which events you decide to attend, the festivity is contagious! The city will be buzzing with excitement all week long. Boston Pride is highly anticipated each year and brings thousands of people to Boston. If you intend on visiting Boston during Pride, it’s highly recommended to book your accommodations ahead of time! Driving during the bigger events is not recommended, and generally speaking, any Pride experience will be improved by staying within the city for easy access to all events.
Perfectly situated near every event is Copley Square Hotel.
